Not Burger & Fries

Susan Baumgaertel · October 25, 2021

I love to eat for pleasure, not just because it is good for me. That being said, much of what I prefer is actually quite nutritious. I tend to stay away from using the word “healthy” because it is overused and, frankly, a word that has been ruined by the food industry.

Sometimes you just crave fast food. What’s great is when you find substitutes that are more in-line with your nutrition preferences of the moment.

Enter the burger & fries – definitely not “healthy” by any definition or stretch of the imagination. Here is a recent version from Chez Glenn that definitely hit the taste & satisfaction target.

Ingredients:

  • Impossible™ Burger 1/4 pound patty – no meat! (water, soy protein concentrate, coconut oil, sunflower oil, natural flavors; 2% or less of: potato protein, methylcellulose, yeast extract, cultured dextrose, food starch modified, soy leghemoglobin, salt, mixed tocopherols, soy protein isolate) – cook on grill or use grill pan
  • Macrina Bakery ciabatta bun
  • Cascadian Farm Organic Spud Puppies, frozen (organic potatoes, organic soybean oil, salt, apple juice concentrate, citric acid) – bake in oven or toaster oven
  • Baby spinach leaves, handful
  • Tomato, sliced
  • Grainy mustard, ketchup, mayo or whatever condiments you enjoy
Voilà! Not burger & fries!
