Sumac (Rhus coriaria) packs a powerful punch as a Mediterranean spice. Known for having many beneficial phytonutrients, it is touted to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, cardio protective and even anticancer properties.
Unlike picking blackberries, you can’t just eat it off a bush. Processed into an oil, extract, or powder, it can easily be added to many dishes as a spice or condiment—like in this simple tomato salad.
