Voices With Vigor: Nourishing Midlife, A Conversation for World Menopause Day

Susan Baumgaertel · September 20, 2026

You’ve read the articles and bookmarked the recipes. Still, most evenings you stand in front of the fridge with good intentions and no clear plan. That gap between knowing and doing follows a person across the years. 🌱

Part of the problem is how tired the advice itself has become. We hear “food as medicine” so often now that the phrase has almost lost its weight, and almost none of us were taught how to turn that idea into an actual meal at the end of a long day.

So the suggestions keep piling up while the plate stays the same.

That gap deserves a fuller answer, which is exactly the kind of conversation Voices With Vigor (VWV) was made for. Once a month, our growing community comes together for honest, unscripted talk about the things that matter across a lifetime. ✨

This October, in honor of Menopause Awareness Month, I am delighted to welcome a physician who has spent her career proving that food ranks among the most joyful tools we have for health.

World Menopause Day usually centers on hormones, symptoms, and treatments, all of which matter a great deal. The conversation about food during this season tends to get far less attention, and that absence is what we plan to address together.

☕ Tuesday, October 13 (10-11 am PT / 1-2 pm ET)

Morning Coffee with Sabrina Falquier

Sabrina is a triple board-certified physician in Internal Medicine, Culinary Medicine, and Lifestyle Medicine, raised in Mexico City by Swiss and American parents. After over fifteen years in primary care, she founded Sensations Salud®, a culinary medicine education and consulting practice.

She hosts two podcasts, appears in the documentary The Kitchenistas, and in 2025 received a San Diego Press Club Excellence in Journalism Award.

We’ll talk about what culinary medicine is, how evidence-based nutrition becomes weeknight cooking skills, the way culture influences every plate we set down, and how doctors, dietitians, chefs, and coaches might work as one around food.

And, as always, you’re welcome to bring your own questions.

Register for October 13th – free, live, virtual – and explore the detailed landing page.

I would be delighted for you to join us. 🌟

P.S. There is a certain joy in learning that the food which cares for your body can also taste like home. I hope you’ll pull up a chair. ✨

Dr. Baumgaertel provided a welcoming atmosphere and was clearly very well prepared as a host and guide of an extremely meaningful discussion! I felt her compassion, curiosity, nonjudgment, and support throughout the discussion, and I valued her contributions, which facilitated a deeply enriching dialogue. I am honored to have been a guest on Voices With Vigor. Thank you for the invitation and being an amazing host! — Jillian Rigert, DMD, MD, ACC, TIPC
