Voices With Vigor: Physician Authors

Susan Baumgaertel · August 2, 2025

Two years ago, I set the table with The Menopause Menu…

A guide filled with science, stories, and recipes to support women through menopause with nourishment and care.

But the insights it sparked made me realize something:

We need a bigger table.

That’s why I’m thrilled to invite you to Voices With Vigor, a new series of live conversations with inspiring guests.

In a world where voices often get lost in the noise…

VWV is a space where ideas and stories come together to create something powerful.

It’s about connection, curiosity, and celebrating the strength, creativity, and resilience that unite us.

Each month, I’ll be joined by three incredible guests for casual, meaningful chats.

We’ll explore themes like caregiving, resilience, creativity, and the challenges that shape us.

These dialogues are unscripted, authentic, and full of heart.

To kick things off, I’ve invited a trio of brilliant physician-authors to join me for three live events this August.

Here’s what’s coming up:

🫖 Tuesday, August 19 (1-2 pm PT), Iced Tea Chat with Rebecca Thompson, MD

Rebecca’s memoir, Held Together, weaves her own story of motherhood with the voices of 21 women navigating infertility, loss, adoption, and more. Together, we’ll explore themes of community, family wisdom, and healing through storytelling.

🍷 Wednesday, August 20 (5-6 pm PT), Evening Wind-Down with Jennifer Lycette, MD

Jennifer’s medical thrillers, The Algorithm Will See You Now and The Committee Will Kill You Now, dive into the dark history of medical ethics and power structures. We’ll chat about finding humor in medicine, the impact of AI, and the challenges women face in healthcare.

☕ Thursday, August 21 (9-10 am PT), Morning Coffee with Adrienne Towsen, MD

Adrienne’s book, Navigating the Lifecycle of Working Moms in Healthcare, co-authored with Lisa Piliero Drozdowski, PA-C, is a roadmap for thriving amidst the relentless demands of medicine and motherhood. We’ll talk about unwavering spirits that refuse to quit and the importance of joy beyond our professional identities.

Each session will be a relaxed and engaging conversation…

Candid, relatable, and filled with practical wisdom.

You’ll hear behind-the-scenes stories and have the chance to ask your own questions via Zoom chat.

➡️ Register HERE for these free, virtual events—and explore the landing pages for more details.

🎁 Special Gift Alert:

Plans are in the works to announce signed book giveaways to a few lucky folks who join the live, virtual events.

Whether you’re sipping tea, wine, or coffee, I hope you’ll be part of these vibrant conversations.

Let’s celebrate the power of voices coming together…

And kick off this new series with a bang!

I’m hopeful that VWV will create light with sound, one conversation at a time.

P.S. Can’t make it live? No worries! Register HERE anyway and you’ll have future access to the on-demand videos to watch on your own time. But trust me, you’ll want to be there live for the laughs and surprises. 😊
